Early discussions have occurred on one of our partner sites [www.objectweb.org] regarding creating a micro client for the JORAM JMS service. Currently, the expectations are that JMS is a rather heavy-weight transport, and that a J2ME JMS client for the MIDp is likely to exceed the 75KB allocated per application on existing J2ME phones like the Motorola iDEN i85. However, WinCE devices and PALM devices are quite capable of larger client applications, so we're not overly concerned with current memory constraints. If you wanted to get started, we'd probably initiate a discussion with some of our colleagues on objectweb at Evidian, since the JORAM and the A3 initiative are indeed targeted toward mobile devices and "not always connected devices". Ideals for a chairperson are strong organizational and architecture skills, since the job of the chair is to both design as well as parcel out tasks to committers on the project. For a high level overview, take a look at http://enhydra.enhydra.org/aboutEnhydra/gettingInvolved/ecp/index.html. Every good project begins with a goal, constraints, and a concept of a first meaningful milestone and the tasks needed to accomplish it. Perhaps you can think in terms of what subsets of JMS functionality your app will require, what device constraints it might have, and what a .1 release might look like. You have the eyes of many on this list and elsewhere who could help move it forward, best regards, Keith -----Original Message----- From: me-admin@enhydra.org [mailto:me-admin@enhydra.org]On Behalf Of C.
